Traffic is like a dance. It has a rhythm. It’s like that Visa commercial in the toy store were everything is perfectly orchestrated until someone fumbles with a check and throws a wrench in the whole thing. If someone brakes too late a few miles in front of you, it could ripple back to you putting you in a dad standstill.
Traffic also has a language of gestures. A wave can say “thanks for letting me in your lane” or “sorry I cut you off.” Following someone way to closely says “get out of my way” while braking suddenly means “get off my ass.” The “courtesy wave” isn’t something you learn in kindergarten like please or thank you. I don’t even think it is taught in driver’s ed. It is kind of an innate action that drivers just pick up.
